The latest Indiana Jones film cost around $300 million and made about as much in the global box office, so that's a wash. The latest Mission Impossible movie, meanwhile, had a budget of around $ 300 million as well. As of today, it's only made less than $250 million. These kinds of shortfalls happening so consistently for big budget films are unheard of in Hollywood. So what's going on here? What could possibly explain these numbers?
