Is Open Source a Good Idea?
Until the Microsoft era everything came with the source code and you were able to audit it and modify it for your own use as much as you wanted. I don't think the industry would have progressed as fast if companies like Microsoft or Apple hadn't existed. People will go say information wants to be free, but there are valid arguments for intellectual property rights.
