Inclusive fitness is uniquely a property of the individual organism. The Deans' Eye View and inclusive fitness both share a description of what the problem of evolution is. In order to find something transgenerational that's actually transmitted across generations, something with the durability to be a unit of selection, it must be the gene. Elliot Sober made a point that I think is quite a foundational point that was made by Elliot Sober and is little recognized.
