The Impact of COVID-19 on History
I think we could certainly make an argument that COVID-19 has perhaps changed the world in several ways. I think possibly the biggest way might be the way that we view the world. We're living in an age where infectious diseases can easily jump between from one species to humans and then can spread and cause devastation. And so it might be avian flu, for example, that causes another devastating outbreak in a year's time or several years time. So I think hopefully COVID was an aberration, but the kind of skeptical side of me and my kind of understanding of public health suggests that it might well not be a one-off unfortunately.
