There is considered in our brain. A cortical and a subcortical way of perceiving and responding. Sometimes it's called systems one thinking and the other systems to thinking. Systems one thinking is a survival mode for emergencies, which is filled with impulses and instincts. And this is what is active in many people when they're perceiving life in an imbalanced way.
