There are three books, although the third one, he actually happens after he dies. And unlike, I think almost all her other classical novels, they are not told by Alexander herself. Usually the protagonist tells a story they're told from the perspective of other people. So there's always the sense of sort of outside looking in. There are a whole bunch of people who who are totally in love and enslaved with him.
