Paul Gascoigne's Trial Period
Sixteen-year-old Paul Gascoigne struggles to keep his breath steady as he completes a fifth lap of the stadium. It may be humiliating, but there's still nowhere else he would rather be on his birthday than at St James's Park in Newcastle. But being even a pound over is unacceptable in the big leagues. Ever since his close friend's little brother was hit by a car six years ago, he has been prone to eating binges. He felt responsible for his death and food seems to take the pain away.
