The Importance of Earnestness in Comedy
There is a perception, rightly or wrongly, that in comedy, it's not cool to be earnest. Earnestness is like the greatest sin of our generation or was. No, the lamest thing you can do in the world of comedy is be religious. I cannot tell you the number of times comedians have just really been just freaked out by a fellow comic actor talking about those very earnest topics.
