The Story of Owls Goes Back a Long Way
Owl family tree tracts all the species of birds back for tens of millions of years. They go back almost 65 million years ago, almost at the time of that asteroid. You might also be surprised that dinosaur times have a lot to do with why owls are nocturnal. Because dinosaurs could only be up while the sun was up, mammals figured out that it was safer for them to be up while dinosaurs were asleep.
