Preserving Fossils in the Long Term

Even at the best fossil sites, we are still getting a skewed picture for whatever whatever the preservation situation is. Amber often preserves full bodies, body tissues and bones and everything, but tends to be limited to small things and certain places. Caves are good for preservation because oftentimes they are dry and stable environments. You can get ancient dianean proteins, especially from cave and ice and perma frostst remains that are relatively recent. And then, of course, there is io molecules like diana and ancient proteins.
