The National D-Day Memorial

Bob Slaughter joined the National Guard when he was a young man, not really planning on having long military service. He searched throughout World War II, landed on Omaha Beach, served throughout Europe and came back to his normal life. When he retired and got older, he realized that a lot of his fellow veterans from D-Day were passing away. His original plan was pretty small, just a statue or a plaque somewhere. But then this town of Bedford reached out to him saying we have a very serious connection with D-Day so we would like to give you an entire hilltop for some sort of memorial.
