CHAPTER

The Imagination Battle, by Elizabeth Pavanelli

moton relates the story of a young man in this aboriginal community who battles alcoholism, suffers from skin sores and has high blood pressure. When he comes out of the hospital, he demands that his family take him to the liquor store to buy alcohol with the money that he saved while he was hospitalized. His aunt strongly disagrees with his social imaginary he's putting forth. She says, no, that is not your body. That is my body. When you die, my body will suffer and die. And she's not talking about empathetic forms of grief, that she would mourn him, but that they shared a body.
