The State System in Europe After Westvalia
After Westvalia, we have a period of stability in Europe where the state system develops and nation states begin to develop as concrete sovereign boundaries. And that heralds an era of free thinking, an era of philosophical currents which culminate in the era of John Locke and Thomas Hobbes. I'll give you a quick summary of these two thinkers and why they're important to the left-right divide today into conservatism and liberalism.
