The Most Common Mode for Sustained, Assistent Ventilation

The most common mode for spontaneous, assistent ventilation is pressure support ventilation. Because the patient is able to determine their own respiratory pattern, pressure support is typically much more comfortable for awake patients. The amount of pressure support provided can be titrated to achieve a desired tidal volume or mine ventilation. It's used at times in the operating room when your patient starts to breathe and you'd rather not get them deeper or paralyze them because you don't have to.
