The Pandemic Caused This Crisis
There is evidence showing that this crisis started before the pandemic, and the pandemic only com ated it in very unclear ways. People were largely broke, couldn't cover a small emergency. Life expectancy was already going down through most of the two thousand ens - due largely to suicides and overdoses. It's just as likely, or even more likely, that the pandemic forestalled the crisis. And finally, as the last cavat, i'll just restate again that there are no national gures like that who can sort of give voice to labor demands.
