The Economic Impact of High-Speed Rail
High-speed rail often doesn't make economic sense from a private to public partnership, says KBMG's Infrastructure and Project Group. The sweet spot for high-speed rail is where there's a journey duration of less than three hours and greater than two minutes. You need major cities a bit over 150 kilometers away from each other so that people want to use high-speed train. But not too far apart from the journey time becomes arduous in which case an airline makes way more sense.
