The African American Community Says, Look, You Need to Stay Awake
Woke historically came from the African American community to say, look, you need to stay woke. You need to understand the layers of this society and how to survive. And so co-opting that word in a phrase is something that the AfricanAmerican community doesn't even use anymore. Because it has changed the way it's being used. So just to come back then to this idea of why companies would do this, do the motives of companies she need to bother you or are you willing to accept whoever is taking aside that for you? No, the motives are really important.
