The Meaning of a Zen Stick

This is a beautiful Zen stick. It belonged to my teacher, Maureen Stewart-Roshi's Lotus vine. I never attained a Zen stick in some synames lineage. This one was not given to me directly by Maureen right after her death. In other words, I was not given any kind of formal teaching authorization from her. But that's another story. For the purposes of what can do it with the drum, this is called a muktok. And it's a carved Korean drum, the hollow drum,. carved from one piece of wood, as you can see, very beautiful.
