Petros Dina: Fleming Rose is the opinion and culture editor of Ylan's Posten, which is Denmark's biggest newspaper. He commissioned those very controversial cartoons of the Prophet Muhammad back in 2005 that sparked protests amongst Muslims right across the world. "I believe that every Muslim is first and foremost an individual endowed with certain rights and obligations," he says. In a liberal democracy, you enjoy the rights of freedom of expression,. but at the same time, Muslims within their own communities are not able to exercise that right."
The debate "Europe is failing its Muslims" took place on February 23rd at Cadogan Hall in London, in association with BBC World News and the British Council. Arguing in favour of the motion were Tariq Ramadan and Petra Stienen; against the motion were Douglas Murray and Flemming Rose.
