The Importance of Dissociation in Human Function

If we're staying, if the body is detecting that this particular danger is inescapable, then a fight flight response isn't actually adaptive. So what it will do is go into this state of stillness and produce endorphins which are a natural pain killer. The more threatened we feel, the less functional we are from an IQ point of view. We can't access all parts of the brain that tell us that things should be rational. And so understanding that is paramount in understanding how our brains work.
