Atlanta Red Hot City - What's the Difference?
Dan Imurglok is a professor of urban studies at Georgia State University. His book, Atlanta Red Hot City, chronicles the city's gentrification since the 1990s. He says some suburbs have tried to keep low-income people out by using exclusionary zoning and redeveloping older buildings that were lower cost for tenants. In other cases, he says, local governments used redevelopment powers to push back on growing diversity in their areas.
