Are You a History Professor?

The historian's first task is to understand the past on its own terms. The worst possible fallacy for im a historian, in my judgment, is the presentistic fallacy of cherry-picking evidence that supports your political or ideological convictions. And e, historians cannot be objective. That even economists who claim to be objective are fooling themselves. It's a goal that will always be difficult to achieve, but that's the goal we should strive for.
