The Bank of France - The Greatest Mistake
The bank of france was the national bank of France, but privately owned and operated. It quarters and vaults obviously sat right smack dab in the middle of paris. The communal council had named a guy named francois gorde, a pretty competent financial clerk,. And he did his best to work with the bank of frane, not against it. This policy, along with the unwillingness to face the inevitability of civil war, was later identified by future communists and socialists and anarchists as one of the commune's greatest mistakes.
