Is 6.25 a Good Thing for the Economy?
Madhav: We believe that maybe a little bit more is required given the volatility on the external front as well because if the rate is not just about inflation there is also a currency angle to it. Given this backdrop our opinion is that the RBI could possibly go as much as all the way to 6 spotter so essentially another 35 basis point of rate high is likely on the cards. If we are at 0.75 percent we would be closer to RBI's own long term level of real interest rate which is considered to be non-inflation or if it is say the equilibrium level of interest, Madhav says.
