The Effects of Iphasia on Inner Speech

Is there any way to know if the ability is damaged apart from self reporting? That's a really good question. The whole study of the Iphasias for the topic of inner speech is an interesting one. Some cases where people have profound problems in producing external language and then lose their inner speech as well. But others, where they have the same problems in producing language, but they've got continuing inner speech. So the findings are a bit weird. I don't think we've made sense of them. We need to do much more on this topic of looking at how the study of Aphasia can help us to understand inner speech.
