A patient comes into the hospital emergency department, they'd been 10 kilos at their last visit and now they're nine kilos. So what I would say is that this patient has a one kilo volume deficit. The nice thing about the metric system is one liter. And so I probably give this patient a couple of boluses to equal one liter, try and get them back to you the lemoch and then try and keep them there. That's a way especially if you're not sure where their kidney function is going to not get yourself in trouble.
