The Paradox of Illusion
Life might need lies in order to continue itself. But our moral prejudice regarding this is so strong that I don't know if many people are actually able to go there, he says. It's very possible that the truth could be harmful and a mere appearance could be life-giving. And we would actually have an interest in preserving those illusions. Now you kind of get yourself into a catch 22 because once you realize some things in illusion, belief is not subject to the will in the simple sense.
