The Function of Ornament

I have always thought no one ever mentions, almost never mentions the function of ornament as in the psychological function. Somehow the having and something on the outside of a building that has, is visually expressive has er a psychological role in the actual function of the building. I mean, you know, the john parsson scheme, where you have the glazing disunude sliding into er a hidden detail,. It's an ornament which is a sort of highly, highly astheticized one that can only be understood through education for an elite.
