Ru Paul and the U-Halls

Ru gets his first big chance to be on TV in the summer of 1981, while channel surfing at home in Atlanta. He happens upon a cable access program called the American Music Show. When the credits roll, Ru scribbles down the producer's information and sends him a letter. A week later, the producer decides to throw a bone to the one and only person who has ever written the show a letter. It's January of 1982, and Ru Paul is making his first appearance on the American music show. Tonight, he's part of a trio called Ru Paul and the U-Halls.
