Is It Necessary to Lift Heavy to Get Stronger?

LZ Granderson: I find it very interesting when you're talking about the concept of there's the heavier loads and then there's the lighter loads and then the adaptations. The adaptations from what I'm understanding you say is that they are similar, if not identical, as it relates to hypertrophy. LZ: If we were looking at a bench press exercise or a squat exercise, arguably more complex skills, then it's going to be more important to lift heavier if you want to see maximum strength in those movements.
