The French Elite and the Colorblind Society
There's something beautiful and universalistic about that French ideal. It's often used against the French elite or establishment as look, they don't even take notice of their system with respect to minority groups. But this kind of universalism that encompasses all these different peoples under this glorious idea of France is probably the closest analog to the American model in some ways.
