"It's very difficult to be a comedian," he says. "You have to sort of explain what it is." Comedians must make fun of parts of society, but at the same time they should not promote hate or nostalgia for an old way of doing things that won't work in today's world. He thinks we do a lot of bad ethnography and kind of outside looking in.
