The History of Philosophy in the Age of the Sutra

Sanskrit is beginning to establish itself as the main language you need to learn if you want to read the primary sources of Indian philosophy. For Brahmanic authors, Sanskrit, the language of Revelation and of Panani's grammar, as a unique status. Buddhists are never going to accept this exceptionalist story, but they nonetheless begin to write in the language of their Brahmanic adversaries.
