The China Hustle is an Alex Gibney documentary about this phenomenon. It's essentially that you find a company, let's say in China in this case, that is listed on American or Western exchanges but is largely defunct. And what happens is, of course, eventually these companies go belly up or reorganize and they leave investors holding the bag sometimes to the tune of tens of billions of dollars.
