I Think Hawking Is Reacting Against a Particular Kind of Philosopher

Philosophy of science is a way to look at the doings of science from the outside, specifically from the episthemic warrant perspective. Many philosophers needlessly complicate their language with pointless jargon and affect a bizarrely pompous attitude. Philosophy seems to ract many who would rather sound intelligent than be clearly understood. As nicha said, those who know they are profound strive for clarity. Those who would like to seem profound to the crowd strive for obscurity. This obscuratism is insecurity on their part. And unfortunately, no philosopher has ever agreed that everyone was the arbiter of time when it came to being right or wrong.
