If the goal is just to date as many people as you can or get something from them, then that's an entirely different conversation. But if we're dating for a purpose to see if this might potentially be someone I'd want to covenant my life to, that it, it seems like God's in this to where I'm going to marry this person, then you would want to do what you're describing.
