Virus behind Covid is getting fitter too. Early surveillance signals show an Omicron sub variant known as XBB1.5 is rising in the US. It's spreading twice as fast as BQ1, which is one of the most common variants in the UK at the moment. This one doesn't seem to cause any more severe disease.
