The Buddha's Practice of the Cremation Grounds
Dr. Bantai Sangerratche, the man who founded Sri Ratna, used to talk about the sense of joy and celebration and energy that would often come with these cremation processes. This was also how it was done in the days at the time of the Buddha. The cremation grounds would be particular areas of practice then for the Buddha and his followers. His followers were encouraged to go in, sit amongst the cremation grounds. You'd see the bodies in various stages of decomposition while they were in the burial grounds,. some still recently fresh and uncorrupted. Some of them started to fester and bloat.
