The Battle of Singlea

Hassan's sleeve caught on fire from one of these jars of liquid fire as he tried to climb up the rocks. He was just in time to see ten warboats making for the tip of Singlea, part of the defenses that it seemed undefended and ripe for attack. The failure of the assault on Singlea meant that a quick Ottoman victory was now completely out of the question. Even more than before, this was now a race against time. July wore on into August. The guns pounded away at both Birgu and Singlea, reducing the outer defenses to little more than rubble. Finally, on August 7th, the Ottomans made another major assault.
