Lord of the Rings - Rivendell

"We're going to rest before we cross the mountains. I know of a good place to rest," Gandalf tells Bilbo in Lord of the Rings. "Rivendell is where the elves live and it's specifically Elrond, who doesn't do much in this story." Tolkien says that things that are good to have and days that aregood to spend are soon told about but not much to listen to. Uncomfortable, palpitating, gruesome happenings make for interesting stories.
