The Long View of History

When was the first time an army of 500 men absolutely knocked everybody over in terms of its size? Nobody's ever had an army that big. And we have to remember too, when it comes to things like so-called prehistory, prehistory and history happen at different times in different places. Just because history started in a place like Sumeria in 3200 BCE, it's still dark as heck in terms of prehistory.
