The Importance of Art in My Life
I came from a French school where the history of the Second World War was very different. So I suddenly went into a boarding school, an English boarding school called Stowe. The only saving grace in all this was it had the most wonderful art school and art teacher. He looked at all my photographs and then he got me to start drawing. We used to do life drawings and still life drawings. And we did it for all the students. But obviously he put me in charge of it. It made me feel great.
