The History of Epilepsy
The invention of the human EEG, electroencephalogram, by Hans Berger in 1929 was a turning point. The application of EEG to animal models also really opened up the world of epilepsy. Cellular and molecular advancements have vastly improved our understanding of the underlying pathophysiology of seizures. But the rise in scientific or rational thinking didn't mean that the stigma of epilepsy disappeared.
