The History of Theatre Workshop

After the Second World War theatre workshop went on a tour around Britain for eight years. Joan Little worked with this company and evolved a style which wasn't like anything that anybody had seen if anything it came from abroad. In Germany playwright Bertolt Brecht was breaking down the idea of the audience and actors as separate with characters often speaking directly to those watching. We knew Brecht before anyone had heard of him because we were members of the international union of revolutionary theatre.
