The Virtue of Piety, or Pietas in Latin.
i apologize for using the rhexaity, canotic and jingoistic terms. patriotism is in fact a virtue - it goes by the name of piety or pietas in latin. We owe both country and parents a debt of gratitude just based on the mere fact that they've brought us into existence. And we have different virtues for each of those relationships: religion regards god, obedience, regards superiors. But then when it comes to our country and our parents, we owe them a kind of piety,. which is related to the word, you know, that we would ordinarily associate with devotion.
