The CHIPS Act and US Government Investments in Semiconductors

In August, efforts to strengthen the American semiconductor supply chain culminated in the passage of the CHIPS Act. The act represented a $50 billion investment from the US government into domestic chip manufacturing. Semiconductors require some of the most complicated and sensitive manufacturing processes ever devised.
