China and Pelosi's Visit to Taiwan, China's Red Lines

China responded to a US call for the resumption of military communication channels that Beijing suspended in response to House Speaker Nancy Pelosi visiting Taiwan. A Chinese defense ministry spokesman said Washington must respect China's concerns for them to be resumed. Less communication between the two militaries increases the risk of an accident and with US-China relations at their lowest point in decades, an accident can spiral into something bigger.
