What Happened to Salah?
In 1169, Saladin took control of Egypt from Nur al-Din. He spent the next few years building up a fleet and securing his communications with Syria. But Nuredine is starting to get frustrated with him because he's spending money on invasions that don't really pay for themselves. And so after about two and a half years of this, he's finally confident enough to pose the caliph and rule directly in Nur al- din's name.
