In 2006, when the US government decided to arm the Afghans to fight the Taliban, they originally intended to use a Russian arms company. The Russians thought it was a joke because it was such enormous quantities. They were like, "This is not real" And I think they like laughed it off. But then after Russia got on blacklist for supplying nuclear technology to Iranians, U.S. couldn't buy from them legally anymore. So they had to put it out for open bid to buy from other sources. Because the Russians were the only ones who could supply the entire contract,. You know, every single, you know, in one fells in one swoop, a single source.
