Philosophers are much less fussy about this. They all think the same thing and they themselves are not saying it out loud because they think that everyone disagrees with them. Nothing wrong with that in the real world of human beings. Oleg Rubinsky says, the great Polish sci-fi writer Stanislav Lem devoted a lot of his works to the problem of contact between human and alien intelligence. Even when both sides recognize each other, as such, he claimed with the different evolutionary paths that each took, makes any kind of meaningful contact or comprehension almost impossible. I really don't have any idea about this very important question.
Welcome to the September 2022 Ask Me Anything episode of Mindscape! These monthly excursions are funded by Patreon supporters (who are also the ones asking the questions). We take questions asked by Patrons, whittle them down to a more manageable number — based primarily on whether I have anything interesting to say about them, not whether the questions themselves are good — and sometimes group them together if they are about a similar topic. Enjoy!
